At Pacific Kitchens we specialize in sealing, maintenance, restoration, repair and polishing natural stone countertops such as granite, slate, onyx, flagstone, marble, travertine, limestone, silestone, ceasarstone, and soapstone..

Over time natural stone countertops and backsplashes can lose their luster and shine. Since a kitchen or bathroom countertop is used on a daily basis it gets exposed to acidic agents that can affect the protective sealer. Sometimes a countertop can crack, the caulk needs to be replaced, or the sink needs to be reset - Pacific Kitchens can help!

Most natural stones should be sealed with a high quality penetrating sealer. Some granites do not require sealing as the stone is so dense nothing penetrates. The greater majority of natural stone countertops do require sealing. The main liquid that can damage your stone are water or oil soluble. Premium quality impregnators/sealers that reject both oil and will be used on your countertop by Pacific Kitchens. By having us apply this type of sealer, you will have more time to blot up spills before they penetrate your stone’s surface.

Once your stone is sealed, this does not mean it is impenetrable. If a liquid sits on your stone long enough it will eventually penetrate the natural stone countertop. This is especially so with very porous stone like Limestone. So wipe up spills immediately.

Alhough your stone may be sealed, sealing does not prevent etching.  Etching occurs when you spill, say, red wine on your sealed limestone, you wipe it up, there’s no red mark but there is a whitish blotch left behind and you can see exactly where the wine spilled. That’s an etch mark. This mark can only be removed by a qualified stone care specialist such as Pacific Kitchens.
